J&S Timber
Products harvests from naturally “blown down” trees that were growing before
Columbus came to the Americas. Most lots come from a large area of trees
downed by high winds and left to age in very cool wet conditions. We use
"hand picked" selection of our stock. There's really
only one way to harvest Tonewood. We hike up approximately 1 mile, cut to
size and pack down 2 bolts at a time by backboard, 3-6 times per day.
Whew! All of our Tonewood is hand split for grain perfection. It’s very labor intensive but well
worth the investment.

With
over 40 years experience in selecting
quality woods from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, it gives us the ability to
provide you with the very best in Tonewood. We can furnish any quantity of
material you need as our supply of Tonewood stock will last for many years to
come. We have a source on a nearby Island in southeast
Alaska, that will give a minimum of 15 years of quality material. Don’t
confuse us with other suppliers of Tonewood from Prince of Wales Island or
Canada, we
offer a premier product at a competitive price.
