Alaska Tonewood - Making The Grade For Manufacturers and Musicians

Tonewood Grades

MASTER GRADE: No discernible grain runout allowed; straight, even grain with 24 or more grain lines per inch; quarter sawn within 2 degrees. The color should be even across the piece, although slight color variation is allowed in Cedar.

AAA: Straight, even grain with slight variations in evenness and/or straightness allowed. 16 to 23 grain lines per inch. Slight variations in color allowed.

We offer: Superior Master Grade, Master Grade, AAA, and AA woods. We currently carry Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Port Orford White Cedar, Red Alder and some Yew Wood.

Also available: Sawed and Sanded boards of pure Master Grade tonewood in Sitka Spruce, Red Cedar and Alaska Yellow Cedar. A luthier's dream as there is no waste with these boards. Check the pricing page for more information.
