“Tonewood is defined as the component of a stringed
musical instrument that acts as the instrument’s soundboard. On
hollow-bodied guitars, the soundboard is the top surface. The qualities
manufacturers of stringed instruments prize when purchasing Tonewood are,
clear fibre, vertical grain, close growth ring spacing, color and consistency
throughout the piece.”
The color of our wood is a striking white
with a shiny luster indicative of Sitka Spruce. Our stock is
finely grained and has growth lines wavering no more than 1/2 inch from top
to bottom of the bolt. We ship clear wood with absolutely no knotting. We
cut no less than 36” rounds (unless a particularly outstanding grain
is present in the round or a special order). We provide Violin bolts (billets),
Manolin bolts, Cello bolts, as
well as Double Bass bolts and occasionally even Piano wood. Custom cuts are
welcomed, just ask!
